Uber technologies says that the drivers and passengers are now banned from carrying guns while they are using the Uber Platform.

 

Uber technologies has banned the drivers and passengers from carrying any kind of firearms, any of the drivers or passengers, if they do not respect the rules, will not be able to use the Uber platform. This rule according to the Uber will also be applied to the Uber affiliates.

This policy is in effect since June 10

The Company has confirmed that it has changed its firearm policy and is in action from 10th of June. Uber is making sure that drivers and riders feel comfortable with this new policy. In a statement, Uber said it made the change after reviewing feedback from drivers and passengers of Uber. Previously it was delayed due to the local law on the issue but this time it is going very well.

What Uber Technologies are for?

The Uber Technologies let the passengers summon cars from more than 250 cities through an app. This privately held company has a value of around $40 billion. It has faced many legal and regulatory challenges as it expanded its operations in the United States and worldwide. It has also been scrutinised on the background check issues, like who is driving the cars and who is the passenger.

What led to this decision?

In April, a 22-year-old man was shot dead by an Uber driver with a concealed-carry permit, the man opened fire on a group of people in Chicago. According to the court records, the man was shooting at the pedestrians crossing the road when the driver shot down the gunman. The driver was not charged by the court as prosecutors said that he acted in defence of others and himself.
