An Insight Into The Vectra VXR

Vauxhall Vectra VXR

Vauxhall Vectra VXR is the real deal

What Vectra Offers?

Vauxhall’s VXR is an elite model at the highest point of the Vectra range in hatchback and especially the hatchback shape. The speediest Vectra to date with a top rate of 161mph offers a 0-60mph sprint time of 6.5 seconds.

Its Smooth turbocharged V6 offers easy execution while the handling takes care of the most demanding roads.

Engines & Ride

Ride is somewhat firm – however that is the thing that you’d expect – and gear changes can’t be surged, yet couple of cars offer the blend of this much space and performance for this amount of cash. The Vectra VXR’s turbocharged 2.8-litre V6 engine creates 251bhp and 262lb-ft of torque.

Most extreme pulling force is accessible from 1800rpm-4500rpm so unless you’re travelling at slow speeds in sixth gear, throttle response kicks in straight away. A six-speed gearbox is the only option and gear changes are long.

Equipment

Motorway driving is a relaxed affair like any other Vauxhall, but the VXR always has more in reserve should you need it. The equipment includes standard air conditioning, CD auto changer and digital radio, six airbags, xenon headlights, electronic stability programme, continuous damping control, part-leather seats, electric windows, 18-inch alloys, VXR styling inside and out, cruise control and trip computer.

Optional features include upgrades to electronic climate control, full leather trim, 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive forward lighting, front and rear parking sensors and satellite navigation.

A Safe Car

The Vectra didn’t get a five-star rating in official European crash tests, but it is still a safe car with six airbags as standard with an impressive electronic stability programme which can prevent crashes happening in the first place.

Steering wheel-mounted audio controls are standard. Vauxhall’s are pretty reliable with few problems; expect the VXR to have a similar good record.
