Every car maker is jumping on the Hybrid Plug-In band wagon and Mercedes-Benz is not lagging behind as a the C-Class Plug-In has been spied. The spy shots show a prototype of the hybrid inside a parking lot in Germany. What made it stand out from the line-up is its active shutter grille and modified rear bumper which also features an integrated port. This new version will be called the C350 Plug-in Hybrid and will have a 3.0 litre turbo charged V6 engine<\/strong><\/a> mated to a 7-Speed automatic gearbox system and an electric motor. The new power mill will first be introduced in the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The electric motor is expected to give 70bhp and a minimum torque of 147 lb-ft, which will allow the vehicle to move around while using battery power. The C220 BlueTEC is considered to be the most efficient C-Class available in the market and offers an average of 70.6 mpg. It has a standard 2.1-litre turbo-charged diesel engine offering 168bhp. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Plug-In is expected to feature a large-sized lithium ion battery that allows the vehicle to run form fifty kilometres while on all-electric mode.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Why does this new car matter, well because all its main competitors are offering a plug-in Hybrid version. The C-Class competitors like the BMW 3-series and Infiniti Q50 already offer hybrid versions, and Mercedes-Benz itself has already rolled out hybrid versions of its other saloons, including the E400 hybrid and the top-dog S500 plug-in hybrid. The car is also likely to offer multiple driving modes, including full-electric, hybrid, and petrol only modes.
